A Week In Darts - March 10, 2025 – Littler Lifts Third PDC Title In A Week At The Belgian Darts Open

Luke Littler extended his winning streak to 14 matches as the world champion followed up his UK Open success with a Premier League nightly title in Brighton and a victory at the Belgian Darts Open. Here’s our round-up of the action...

THREE TITLES IN A WEEK FOR LITTLER

Luke Littler won his third title in the space of a week after beating Mike De Decker 8-5 in the Belgian Darts Open final on Sunday night.

After following up his triumph at the UK Open last weekend with a nightly title in the Premier League in Brighton on Thursday, the 18-year-old continued his winning run with a victory in the first European Tour event of 2025.

‘The Nuke’ averaged over 100 in all four of his matches on finals day in Wieze yesterday, as he got the better of Luke Woodhouse, Dave Chisnall, James Wade and De Decker to pocket the £30,000 top prize.

“I’m very happy to retain this title in front of these amazing fans,” the reigning PDC world champion Littler said.

“Mike was very strong on his throw, but I managed to get the lead and then see it out.

“I said at the start of the year if I don’t win anything all year, I’m still a world champion.

“I’m happy to win the UK Open and come back here and go back-to-back. Now it’s straight onto the Players Championship events and then back to the Premier League.”

For the home favourite De Decker, the Belgian number two had produced a memorable fightback to beat Ross Smith 7-6 in the semi-finals and progress to his first European Tour final.

The current World Grand Prix champion also knocked out the world number one Luke Humphries in the second round, before wins against Martin Schindler, Gerwyn Price and Smith set up a showdown with Littler in Sunday’s finale.

GREAVES DOMINATES WOMEN’S SERIES

Beau Greaves continued her incredible start to 2025 with a trio of titles on the PDC Women’s Series in Leicester at the weekend.

The 21-year-old sits top of both the Challenge Tour and Development Tour Order of Merits and also pushed the world number one Luke Humphries close in her recent UK Open debut.

On Saturday, Greaves won Event Six of this year’s Women’s Series with a 5-1 win over Lisa Ashton in the final.

The reigning WDF women’s world champion extended her winning run on the Women’s Series to 19 matches on Sunday, as she claimed back-to-back titles in Events Seven and Eight to close out the weekend.

Greaves whitewashed Katie Sheldon 5-0 in the final of Event Seven, before ending Irish hopes in the Event Eight decider with a 5-1 victory over Robyn Byrne.

“I was pleased to win a title yesterday, and I came into today with the same attitude,” said Greaves, who has now won a record-extending 33 Women’s Series titles.

“I still want to be more consistent. I’m looking for that next level now, and I’m trying to be as competitive as possible on the ProTour and all the other tours that I play.

“Playing on the Development Tour and the Challenge Tour is helping my game, and having the opportunity to play these top players on the ProTour is lovely.”

Meanwhile, Finland’s Kirsi Viinikainen made history as the first player from Scandinavia to win a Women’s Series title on Saturday.

The 52-year-old defeated Fallon Sherrock 5-2 in the final of Event Five to add her name to the roll of honour for the first time.

NINE-DARTER DOUBLE IN BRIGHTON

Luke Humphries and Rob Cross both hit their first televised nine-dart legs on night five of the Premier League season in Brighton last Thursday.

Humphries struck perfection during his 6-4 defeat to Cross in the quarter-finals, whilst Cross threw his nine darter in a 6-5 loss against Nathan Aspinall in the semi-finals.

Luke Littler won the nightly title after seeing off Aspinall 6-3 in the final, with the five-point haul helping him close the gap on Humphries at the top of the table to just two points.

“I’ve always been confident in my own ability, but the way my darts are going at the minute, it’s probably the best I’ve ever played on a consistent basis,” Littler said.

“That is why I can find those extra gears and dig myself out of trouble when I need to.

“My main goal is to make the top four. Whether it’s first, second, third or fourth, it’s about making it to The O2, and that’s when the proper title defence takes place.”

Aspinall’s run to a second final in three weeks has moved him up into the play-off spots and in third place, with Michael van Gerwen occupying the last play-off berth in fourth.

The Premier League season continues with night six in Nottingham this Thursday (March 13).
